Job Description
The Team Leader, Engineering plays a pivotal role in overseeing daily engineering operations within the hotel. This includes managing staff, ensuring maintenance of HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems, and leading preventive maintenance programs. The position supports project management, compliance with safety standards, guest satisfaction, cost control, training, and documentation. The team leader acts as a key technical expert and is responsible for fostering a safe, efficient, and service-oriented engineering environment while aligning departmental operations with corporate strategy.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Supervise and lead the engineering team, including technicians and contractors
Provide mentorship and training to ensure skill development and motivation
Manage maintenance of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
Implement preventive maintenance programs for optimal equipment performance
Assist in budgeting and cost control for the engineering department
Ensure compliance with local safety regulations and building codes
Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments regularly
Coordinate renovation projects and installations within the hotel
Address guest complaints related to maintenance issues promptly
Foster collaboration between departments to support hotel operations
Troubleshoot complex engineering issues and provide technical guidance
Maintain records of maintenance, inspections, and repairs
Generate performance reports and recommend improvements
Maximize staff productivity using flexible scheduling and task assignment
Ensure team members follow hotel grooming, safety, and behavior standards
Conduct performance evaluations and support staff development
Participate in training sessions and departmental meetings
Support innovation and continuous improvement in engineering operations
Uphold Hyatt’s values and ensure high levels of customer service
Carry out any other duties assigned by management

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field
Proven experience in a similar engineering leadership role, preferably in hospitality
Strong knowledge of hotel engineering systems and components
Understanding of industry codes, regulations, and safety standards
Strong team management, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to multitask and respond to operational changes effectively
Proficiency in maintenance planning, documentation, and reporting
Professional demeanor and commitment to high standards of personal grooming
