Our client, Afriart Gallery (AAG) is looking for a studio assistant for the ongoing residency program Vivid Synergies! which is a project connecting East African artists, writers, and curators based in Uganda. The project started in May 2023 and is running until 30th April 2024. It is funded through a grant by the Ignite Culture. There are three residencies in total, each combining a visual artist, a writer, and a curator for a period of four months. Each residency contains a community workshop, a studio talk opening the residency journey to the public, and a final event celebrating the exhibition of the artworks and a book publishing. So far, the first residency is about to be completed. Residencies II and III are ongoing.

Role description and requirements
Support the project accountant in procurement policies by gathering transactional and compliance-supporting documents from different service providers, organizing them, and delivering them to the project team.
Support the project manager in event management tasks during the residency activities (community workshops, studio talks, exhibition events, and book publishing). This includes assistance in stakeholder management, communication, documentation, logistics, and coordination of event(s).
Work closely with the project manager and accountant and guarantee transparency, accuracy, and commitment in delivering the tasks.
Be available to the project team when needed (also on weekends) and attend meetings when required.

Have a profound background in working with the local arts industry in Uganda and be experienced in working self-reliably.
There are no fixed working hours, the studio assistant is required to work independently and deliver the tasks in accordance with the project team.
