About the Organisation

Biyinzika was founded in 1990 as a poultry breeder farm and has grown steadily over the years to establish itself as one of the best- known brands in the Ugandan poultry industry.

We are now the leading supplier of day-old chicks and poultry feeds in the country.

We have recently started producing other livestock feeds such as dairy and pig feeds.

A commercial broiler farm was set up in 2016 which is now in full production.

IT Administrator Interim job at Biyinzika Poultry

Job Description

The role of an Interim IT Administrator is crucial during transitions, ensuring continuity and stability of IT operations while the organization seeks a permanent replacement

Duties and Responsibilities

Network Management:

  • Ensuring the proper functioning of the network, including LAN, WAN, and VPN connections.

  • Monitoring network performance and troubleshooting issues.

  • Managing network security, including firewalls, routers, and switches.


System Administration:

  • Overseeing the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers and operating systems.

  • Managing user accounts, permissions, and access controls.

  • Ensuring the availability, performance, and security of applications and services.


Security Management:

  • Implementing and enforcing security policies and procedures.

  • Monitoring for security breaches and responding to incidents.

  • Conducting regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.


Technical Support:

  • Providing technical support to end-users, resolving hardware and software issues.

  • Managing helpdesk operations and ensuring timely resolution of support tickets.

  • Training users on new technologies and best practices.


Backup and Disaster Recovery:

  • Ensuring regular backups of critical data and systems.

  • Developing and maintaining disaster recovery plans.

  • Testing backup and recovery procedures to ensure they work as expected.


Vendor Management:

  • Coordinating with third-party vendors for hardware and software purchases.

  • Managing service contracts and ensuring compliance with terms.

  • Evaluating and recommending new technologies and solutions.


Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintaining accurate documentation of IT systems, configurations, and processes.

  • Generating regular reports on system performance, security status, and other key metrics.

  • Keeping detailed logs of maintenance activities and support incidents.


Project Management:

  • Leading IT projects, such as system upgrades, migrations, and deployments.

  • Collaborating with other departments to understand their IT needs and deliver solutions.

  • Managing project timelines, budgets, and resources.


Policy Development:

  • Developing and updating IT policies and procedures.

  • Ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

  • Educating staff on IT policies and security best practices.


Strategic Planning:

  • Assisting in the development of long-term IT strategies.

  • Identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.

  • Advising senior management on technology trends and their potential impact on the organization.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information technology or systems

  • Certification in Cyber Security and/or Networking is an added advantage


Skills & Experience

  • Min 5 yrs experience in a busy commercial environment


  • Experience in system maintenance

  • Strong knowledge of ICT security systems

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
