Strategic Partnerships Manager

Reporting to: Head of Ecosystems & Partnerships
Job Purpose
The Strategic Partnerships Manager will be responsible for identifying, developing, and managing partnerships that accelerate DFCU’s growth into new business areas while strengthening its core operations. This role involves cross-functional collaboration, strategic negotiation, and the design of innovative partnership models that create shared value for DFCU and its partners.
The ideal candidate will possess strong commercial acumen, expertise in complex contract management, and a deep understanding of intellectual property and the commercialization of new ventures.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Lead the sourcing, prioritization, and execution of strategic partnerships and alliances aligned with DFCU’s growth ambitions.
Utilize industry insights to craft impactful partnership strategies that drive DFCU’s inorganic growth initiatives.
Develop comprehensive business cases for partnership opportunities, including competitive analyses, market forecasts, financial models, synergy evaluations, and value-sharing frameworks.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders—such as product development, marketing, technology, and legal—to ensure seamless integration and execution of partnership initiatives.
Drive the commercialization of strategic partnerships in coordination with product and business teams.
Ensure rigorous and methodical deal management through defined milestones, effective negotiation strategies, and achievement of shared objectives.
Serve as the primary relationship manager for key strategic partners, fostering strong, collaborative relationships and ensuring clear communication.
Engage with specialist risk teams (Operational Risk, Financial Crime, Information Security, Market Risk, etc.) to ensure all risk management requirements are met throughout partnership lifecycles.
Exhibit strong operational leadership and guide teams through complex partnership engagements by providing clarity, structure, and accountability.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field (required).
Master’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related discipline (added advantage).
Experience:
8–10 years of experience managing and influencing strategic partnerships, including structuring and negotiating complex agreements.
Proven success in driving commercial partnerships within financial services, fintech, and development finance institutions (DFIs).
Skills and Attributes:
Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to navigate ambiguity and distill complex issues into actionable insights.
Solid understanding of commercial contracts, licensing, and intellectual property.
Entrepreneurial mindset—innovative, adaptable, and commercially driven.
Excellent relationship management and stakeholder engagement abilities.
Customer-focused, decisive, and comfortable working in fast-paced environments.
Thoughtful, logical communicator and strategic thinker.
Collaborative and humble, with a willingness to learn from diverse perspectives.
