Job Description
The Coordinator Sr., Project (Field) is responsible for leading, managing, and coordinating all field operations under the STEP program in Busia District. This includes planning and implementing program activities, supervising field staff, monitoring program quality, and managing project budgets.
The role ensures that all project activities align with STEP program requirements while maintaining ChildFund’s operational standards, safeguarding policies, and sponsorship commitments. The incumbent will work closely with district authorities, community partners, and ChildFund technical teams to ensure high-quality program delivery. Additional responsibilities include documentation, reporting, stakeholder engagement, capacity building, and knowledge management.

How to Apply
Promote and uphold ChildFund’s safeguarding policies; identify and respond to safeguarding risks.
Lead planning and implementation of STEP program activities according to approved proposals and timelines.
Manage the STEP program budget, ensuring compliance with ChildFund’s financial control standards and timely utilization of resources.
Ensure continuous monitoring of project activities to guarantee quality and effectiveness.
Oversee proper documentation and data management for knowledge sharing and program learning.
Coordinate with partners, government stakeholders, and community structures to support smooth implementation of the STEP program.
Participate in coordination meetings and strengthen strategic partnerships at district and community levels.
Ensure timely submission of quality progress reports and other required documentation.
Maintain proper program records, correspondence, and documentation for reference and audits.
Provide leadership, mentoring, and coaching to staff to promote performance, growth, and teamwork.
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Social Administration, Social Sciences, Adult and Community Education, Development Studies, or a related field (required).
Master’s degree in a related field is an added advantage.
Minimum of 5 years’ program management experience in an international NGO setting.
Demonstrated experience leading programs in development contexts.
Technical & Leadership Competencies
Strong understanding of Sponsorship Operations, workflows, policies, and programming standards.
Proficiency in Kobo Collect, ComCare, DHIS-2, and other program data tools.
Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
Ability to design and deliver trainings and capacity-building initiatives.
Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with experience working with government and partners.
Excellent leadership abilities with experience supervising and developing high-performing teams.
Ability to work under pressure while maintaining quality and accuracy.
Written and oral communication skills in English; fluency in a local language is an added advantage.
Strong digital literacy.
