Job Description
MMU has been making strides towards becoming an academic Centre of excellence, and under its second Strategic Objective, has partnered with other Organisations and Institutions with a strong and growing portfolio of externally funded research, innovation, and development projects. MMU seeks to strengthen and streamline coordination of its partnerships at the highest level, and invites applications from qualified, motivated, and experienced professionals for the position of Senior Partnership & Collaboration Officer.
Position Summary:
The Senior Partnership & Collaboration Officer will lead the coordination, management, and strengthening of the MMU’s Local and International Partnerships. The personnel will support the Office of the Vice Chancellor in overseeing externally funded projects, ensuring alignment with Institutional priorities, donor requirements, and national development agenda. The role requires a proactive and highly organized professional with demonstrated experience working in international or donor-funded environments, with esteemed clientele. Engagement is contractual for one (1) year, renewable based on performance.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Reports to the Vice Chancellor.
- Supports the Office of the Vice Chancellor in its resource mobilisation and partnerships mandate.
- Serves as the central liaison between MMU, International Development Partners, Donors, and collaborating Institutions.
- Engages with the University’s Grants Office, to promote Partnership Coordination, Donor Relations and Engagement, Project Oversight and Compliance, Strategic Planning and Institutional Strengthening.
- Maintains an updated inventory of all externally funded projects and monitors their progress at
- Institutional level.
- Facilitates smooth communication between the office of Vice Chancellor, project teams, and external partners.
- Supports the development and maintenance of strong working relationships with international donor agencies, research funders, and other partner universities.
- Assists the Vice Chancellor in preparing for donor meetings, negotiations, and partnership reviews.
- Coordinates donor visits, site assessments, and high-level partnership engagements.
- Tracks progress of implementation of externally funded projects at Institutional level.
- Supports risk identification and mitigation in partnership agreements and grant implementation.
- Ensures all agreements (MOUs, MoAs, and grant contracts) are properly documented and archived.
- Supports the development of the Institutional partnership strategies, frameworks, and guidelines
- Provides analytical reports to inform decision-making by senior management.
- Promotes capacity-building initiatives that enhance effective project and partnership management across the University.
- Performs any other duties that may assigned by the supervisor.
Expected Outputs:
- List of donor/ partners identified, engaged and maintained as required.
- Relationship between MMU, international development partners, donors, and collaborating Institutions effectively managed.
- Inventory of all externally funded projects periodically updated and availed.
- Reports of monitoring and evaluation of externally funded projects prepared
- Record of correspondences with external partners maintained.
- Record of Minutes and proceedings of donor/partner meetings prepared timely.
- Itinerary of donor visits, site assessments, and high-level partnership engagements prepared.
- Record of all agreements (MOUs, MoAs, and grant contracts) maintained.
