Job Description
The Senior Manager - Programs (Consultant) will support strategic implementation of Evidence Action’s programming in Nigeria. Responsibilities include managing operations, expanding current initiatives like school-based deworming, and scoping for new health interventions. The role demands deep engagement with government and non-governmental partners, providing high-quality deliverables, and participating in knowledge management and policy advocacy efforts. The consultant will be pivotal in developing program strategies and reports and liaising with key national and subnational stakeholders to strengthen Evidence Action’s presence in Nigeria.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Support implementation of ongoing and pilot programs through strategic planning, operations, M&E, and capacity building
Collaborate with technical leaders to expand health-based programs
Ensure timely development of high-quality deliverables and reports
Identify new funding and program opportunities; coordinate proposal development
Develop and disseminate knowledge management materials (e.g., policy notes, briefs)
Engage policymakers and government stakeholders at various levels
Maintain strategic databases on key states and conduct political/economic/social analysis
Support new program registration and geographical expansion
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Medicine & Surgery (MBBS / MBChB)
At least 15 years of experience in health-related program implementation and management
Desired Experience and Skills:
Proven experience working at both national and subnational levels in Nigeria
Strong background in health areas like Malaria, WASH, Nutrition, MNCH, NTDs, and Health Systems
Deep understanding of evidence-based policy-making and program design
Strong stakeholder engagement and advocacy skills
Experience in project performance, strategic planning, and donor engagement
Ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
International development experience, preferably with a non-profit organization
