Job Description
The Senior Manager, Data Governance will be the champion of enterprise data management, driving the roadmap for data governance across the organization. The role includes identifying data ownership, ensuring accountability, enhancing data quality, and ensuring compliance with global standards and frameworks such as DAMA, DCAM, and ARMA. This position will coordinate Data Governance Council activities, collaborate with business units to embed governance into new initiatives, and work closely with executive leadership to align data initiatives with strategic goals. The manager will also oversee data stewardship, define KPIs, implement controls, and advocate for data-driven decision-making while ensuring data security and compliance.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Develop and execute the enterprise data governance roadmap aligned with international standards
Define data ownership and accountability structures across business units
Champion and implement data governance strategies, frameworks, and best practices
Monitor data quality, enforce controls, and implement remediation strategies
Define and track data quality metrics and KPIs
Manage change requests relating to data rules and processes
Coordinate Data Governance Council meetings and follow through on outcomes
Ensure new products, systems, and initiatives integrate data governance principles
Collaborate with compliance, risk, and cybersecurity teams to close governance gaps
Promote the concept of “data as an asset” within leadership and operational teams
Identify business needs and align data initiatives to drive growth and efficiency
Provide annual performance measures that align with governance goals

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Business, Economics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, or equivalent
Experience:
At least 5 years’ relevant experience in data governance
Familiarity with data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA DMBOK, COBIT, ISO/IEC 38500)
Experience defining and enforcing enterprise-wide data governance policies and procedures
Skilled in identifying critical data assets and elements
Proficient in implementing data quality frameworks and remediation
Capable of prioritizing and managing multiple data-related projects
Strong collaboration skills with experience working across business entities
Experience in data security policy implementation
Knowledge of SQL, Python, Power BI, and Machine Learning is an added advantage
