Job Description
The Core-Banking Project Manager will oversee the successful execution of a core banking system implementation, divided into two major phases: RFP development and vendor selection, and system implementation. The role requires coordinating with internal departments and external vendors to ensure all business, technical, and regulatory requirements are met. The ideal candidate will manage project timelines, budgets, risks, data migration, and training, ensuring minimal disruption and optimal outcomes. They will report to the PMO Director and work closely with finance, compliance, operations, and IT teams.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Phase 1 – CBS RFP Development & Vendor Selection:
Conduct stakeholder workshops to gather business and technical requirements
Create the Business Requirements Document (BRD)
Draft a comprehensive CBS RFP, including evaluation criteria and compliance requirements
Distribute RFP to vendors and manage the selection process
Conduct vendor evaluations, scoring, site visits, and deliver final recommendation report
Phase 2 – CBS Implementation:
Oversee configuration of CBS modules (loans, deposits, transactions)
Manage integration with existing systems (ERP, CRM, mobile banking)
Lead system testing, UAT, performance testing, and defect resolution
Develop and execute a robust Data Migration Plan
Monitor project timelines, resources, and budgets
Manage phased deployment with contingency plans
Create and implement staff training programs
Supervise post-implementation support and performance reviews
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
Project Management Certification (PMP or PRINCE2)
Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing core banking system deployments
Strong knowledge of system integration, data migration, and banking workflows
Excellent stakeholder management and vendor coordination skills
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication abilities
Experience with data reconciliation tools like Informatica or IBM InfoSphere is a plus
