Job Description
Job Title: Senior Human Resources Officer
Deadline: 10th January 2025, 5:00 PM
Duty Station: Namanve, Kampala
Purpose:
The Senior Human Resources Officer is responsible for overseeing performance management, training and development, leave management, and payroll processing. The role ensures that HR strategies align with organizational objectives while promoting compliance, operational efficiency, and employee satisfaction.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Coordinate the performance appraisal process to ensure it is completed on time and meets organizational standards.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date performance management records for all employees.
Monitor leave requests, balances, and utilization to ensure they align with company policies.
Keep detailed and updated leave records in the HR system.
Address employee queries related to leave and provide guidance on leave policies.
Prepare regular leave reports for management, highlighting trends and suggesting potential policy changes.
Organize and manage training programs, including handling logistics, tracking attendance, preparing materials, and conducting follow-up evaluations.
Monitor and update training calendars and competency matrices.
Assess the effectiveness of training initiatives and recommend improvements.
Track training bonds and ensure adherence to agreements.
Provide accurate employee data, including salary changes, deductions, and adjustments, to the Finance Department for payroll processing.
Ensure that payroll records are maintained correctly and comply with labor laws and company policies.
Address employee inquiries regarding payroll and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Assist in the development, review, and implementation of HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Ensure all HR practices meet labor laws, company policies, and industry best practices.
Support internal audits and compliance checks, ensuring proper documentation and record keeping.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or Management.
Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (an added advantage).
Membership with HRMAU (Human Resources Association of Uganda) is recommended.
3–4 years of experience in a large manufacturing organization.
Solid understanding of HR functions such as Performance Management and Training & Development.
Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of HRMS is a plus.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
