Job Description
The Senior Financial Manager will be responsible for delivering accurate, compliant, and value-adding financial reporting and analysis. Key responsibilities include managing budgets, compiling financial statements, ensuring IFRS compliance, and consolidating financial reports for executive decision-making. The role requires proactive stakeholder engagement, identification of risks and anomalies, and provision of recommendations to support business growth. In addition, the incumbent will provide leadership by coaching team members, fostering intellectual capital, and ensuring high standards of reporting within defined timeframes. The role also contributes to business transformation, process improvement, and corporate responsibility initiatives in line with Nedbank’s strategy.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Analyze financial information to identify anomalies, concerns, and opportunities.
Prepare and review budgets ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and economic indicators.
Ensure accuracy of financial results through reconciliations and IFRS-compliant statements.
Review and submit statutory returns in line with legislation.
Consolidate financial reports and provide value-added recommendations.
Engage with stakeholders to understand and meet requirements.
Lead initiatives that create collaboration and synergies within the group.
Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development for team members.
Ensure compliance with governance, risk, and control standards.
Identify opportunities to improve business processes, systems, and operational efficiencies.
Support transformation and corporate responsibility initiatives, including sustainability goals.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Essential:
Professional Qualification / Honour’s Degree (Finance/Accounting or equivalent).
5–8 years’ experience in financial management, preferably in financial services.
At least 2 years of management experience.
Knowledge of IFRS, financial controls, governance, and risk management.
Strong business acumen and analytical skills.
Knowledge of banking products and processes (transactional banking advantageous).
Proficiency in financial systems, data analysis, and reporting tools.
Preferred:
Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification.
Transactional banking product knowledge.
Behavioural Competencies:
Building partnerships and earning trust.
Strong communication and decision-making skills.
Planning, organizing, and quality orientation.
Leadership and team management skills.
