Job Description
As Area Manager, the incumbent will oversee a group of stores within the Mpumalanga region, providing leadership and guidance to store managers and their teams. Key responsibilities include talent management, succession planning, and performance improvement. The Area Manager will drive customer-related strategies to enhance satisfaction, ensure brand standards are maintained, and promote a culture of brand ambassadorship. In addition, the role requires financial analysis to identify opportunities for sales and profit growth, exploring new store opportunities, and improving operational processes. This position demands strong business acumen, leadership skills, and the ability to balance customer service excellence with commercial success.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Lead and empower store managers to achieve operational strategies and imperatives.
Recruit, develop, and manage talent to support succession planning.
Drive performance through recognition and manage underperformance effectively.
Execute customer-related strategies to achieve high satisfaction levels.
Promote business values to strengthen employee engagement and brand ambassadorship.
Analyse financial reports to identify opportunities for increasing sales and profitability.
Identify and develop new store opportunities to generate non-comparable sales.
Review and improve operational processes and efficiencies.
Provide product feedback to merchant teams to drive sales growth.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications & Experience
Relevant tertiary qualification.
At least 5 years’ management experience as a Store Manager with additional responsibilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong computer literacy.
Skills & Competencies
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Solid business acumen with knowledge of profit and loss management.
Understanding of basic labour law, retail merchandise cycles, and customer journey.
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to inspire and drive performance in a retail environment.
