Job Description
The Senior Finance Officer will report to the Finance Manager and be stationed at the Head Office in Kampala. This role involves analysing financial data, preparing accurate and timely reports, supervising accounting transactions, maintaining the fixed asset register, and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. The role also includes staff performance monitoring, facilitating audits, and ensuring adherence to financial policies and accounting principles.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Prepare statutory and regulatory financial reports for various internal and external stakeholders.
Supervise accounting operations, including voucher approvals, cost control, and financial reconciliations.
Monitor and review financial transactions within the IT system to ensure accuracy.
Provide necessary financial information for internal and external audits.
Maintain and monitor the bank’s fixed asset register and ensure all assets are accurately recorded and safeguarded.
Reconcile fixed asset general ledger accounts and verify data integrity.
Analyse general ledger reports from the IT system and correct discrepancies.
Conduct performance appraisals and recommend training for team development.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field with a major in Accounting/Finance.
Must have completed at least Level 2 of ACCA or CPA.
Postgraduate qualifications are an added advantage.
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a financial/accounting role.
Strong analytical, reporting, and supervisory skills.
High integrity and a strong work ethic.
Proficient in the use of financial systems and MS Office applications.
