JOB VACANCY: SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

Job Title: Senior Communications Officer

Salary Scale: FIA 5

Reports To: Principal Communications Officer

Supervises: None

Job Purpose

The Senior Communications Officer is responsible for supporting the planning and execution of the Authority’s communication and public relations activities. The role aims to ensure accurate and timely dissemination of information and enhance the visibility and public image of the Financial Intelligence Authority.

How to Apply

  • Develop and distribute communication materials including press releases, newsletters, brochures, and official reports.

  • Manage and update the Authority’s website and social media platforms with timely and relevant content.

  • Monitor media coverage and public perceptions of the Authority and prepare summary and analysis reports.

  • Assist in organizing public relations events, media engagements, and awareness campaigns to promote the Authority’s mandate.

  • Respond to routine media, public, and stakeholder inquiries, in coordination with senior officers.

  • Maintain and regularly update a comprehensive database of media contacts and key stakeholders.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of communication strategies and action plans.

  • Draft speeches, presentations, and talking points for events and public engagements.

  • Provide logistical and administrative support for communication-related activities and events.

  • Ensure proper documentation, filing, and archiving of all communication and media materials.

Person Specifications

Qualifications

  • An Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.

Experience

  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience, three (3) of which must have been served at Officer level in Government or a reputable organization.

Competencies

  • Good understanding of the FIA’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives.

  • Familiarity with the Anti-Money Laundering Act (Cap 118), Anti-Terrorism Act, and related regulations.

  • Proficiency in content creation, editing, and digital publishing across multiple platforms.

  • Strong knowledge of social media management and analytics tools.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to craft clear, concise press releases, reports, and briefing materials.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.

  • Creativity in developing and implementing communication campaigns.

  • Sound knowledge of media relations and event planning.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.

  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
