Job Description
The role provides leadership and support in implementing financial procedures for the STEP project, including budget management, reporting, compliance monitoring, financial capacity building, and ensuring adherence to ChildFund’s financial and safeguarding policies. The Senior Assistant ensures financial documentation meets organizational and donor standards, supports project staff with financial manual requirements, and leads preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. The position also participates in monitoring visits to ensure corrective actions are taken and financial practices are compliant.
The role requires maintaining strong working relationships across diverse teams and enforcing ChildFund’s safeguarding standards at all times.

How to Apply
Remain alert to child safeguarding risks and adhere to ChildFund’s safeguarding policies.
Train and mentor STEP staff in financial management systems, procedures, and reporting.
Manage STEP project budgets and cash flow, including fund release requests, cash forecasts, and annual plans.
Monitor compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and regulations in collaboration with the Assurance Officer and Finance Manager.
Ensure compliance with ChildFund financial management requirements, including monthly bank balance reporting and procurement policy adherence.
Conduct monitoring visits to project activities and follow up on corrective actions.
Review and verify financial documents for compliance with policy, donor rules, and accounting standards.
Support program staff in understanding finance manuals and conduct financial capacity-building sessions.
Periodically review systems and staff performance, providing recommendations for improvement.
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual STEP financial reports.
Education & Experience:
Minimum 2 years’ experience in finance, accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, or business administration.
At least 2 years working with an international organization.
Experience in budget preparation and office administration (preferably with an international NGO).
Proficiency with financial software, preferably QuickBooks.
Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Strong planning, organization, and ability to work independently under pressure.
Ability to manage interpersonal relations in a multicultural environment.
