Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and community-driven Scholarship Volunteer to support the implementation and monitoring of our Scholarship Program in Uganda. The volunteer will work closely with the Scholarship Coordinator to assist in student evaluations, application processing, school engagement, and documentation. This is an ideal opportunity for a passionate individual who thrives in grassroots development work and is eager to make a tangible impact in rural education.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Support the Scholarship Coordinator in tracking student progress and identifying those who may require academic warnings, probation, or exit from the program.
Participate in the distribution and collection of scholarship applications from partner schools.
Conduct home and school visits to assess new applicants and prepare comprehensive assessment reports.
Help compile interview materials for the scholarship selection panel.
Assist in updating and maintaining student records in Salesforce and other data systems.
Provide regular updates on program activities and ensure effective communication with stakeholders (students, families, educators, and local leaders).
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Education, Social Work, Development Studies, or a related field.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with fluency in English, and either Luganda or Rutooro.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience in field data collection, enumerator training, and report writing.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in rural field environments.
Strong organizational skills and commitment to meeting deadlines.
Volunteer Requirements
Must reside in or be willing to live in Kassanda or Kyenjojo, where AAFUG operates.
Be creative, self-motivated, and adaptable to dynamic field conditions.
Able to develop positive relationships with youth, educators, and local stakeholders.
Duration
This is a six-month volunteer contract, during which performance and impact will be evaluated for potential future engagement.ply
