Job Summary
Microhaem Scientifics Ltd is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Associate to support the Chief Executive Officer of the Vaccine Access Initiative (VAI). This role involves assisting in research, overseeing clinical trial sites, preparing grant proposals, managing projects, and coordinating office operations. The successful candidate will contribute to the effectiveness and integrity of ongoing scientific programs and administrative functions, while upholding ethical standards and supporting organizational growth.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Executive Support & Coordination
Assist the CEO with research-related tasks, including data analysis, scientific writing, and proposal development.
Schedule meetings, manage executive calendars, and prepare presentations and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Research & Analysis
Conduct scientific research on emerging trends in biological sciences, especially in areas such as vaccine development and stem cell technologies.
Summarize and present findings to support strategic planning and decision-making.
Grant & Proposal Development
Work closely with the funding team to identify funding opportunities.
Assist in writing and editing grant applications and research proposals to ensure clarity, accuracy, and impact.
Project Management
Coordinate and manage specific research and development projects as directed by the CEO.
Ensure clear communication, task follow-up, and timely completion of deliverables across teams and stakeholders.
Communication & Documentation
Draft, proofread, and format technical documents, reports, research summaries, and presentations.
Develop PowerPoint presentations and visual materials to communicate project objectives and outcomes effectively.
Learning & Development
Stay updated on scientific advancements relevant to vaccines, stem cells, and biomedical research.
Participate in professional development activities to enhance contributions to the Vaccine Access Initiative.
Office Operations
Support general office coordination, including document filing, handling correspondence, and liaising with external partners.
Maintain an organized and efficient working environment that supports research activities.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree (Honors) in a relevant field such as Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacy, or related discipline.
Master’s Degree in a similar field is mandatory.
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in research, ideally within pharmaceutical, medical, or related sectors.
Hands-on experience with laboratory techniques such as molecular biology, biochemistry, or similar is essential.
