Job Description
The Research Assistant will be stationed in a designated field site, where they will work closely with implementing partners, local leaders, and farmers to promote agroforestry practices. Responsibilities include organizing training sessions, setting up field demonstrations, conducting data collection, supporting monitoring and evaluation activities, managing nursery operations, and contributing to technical reports.

How to Apply
Extension and Action Learning
Conduct training sessions on agroforestry technologies for farmers and partners.
Raise awareness about the project within local communities.
Establish field demonstrations and facilitate farmer exchange visits.
Provide technical support on soil and water conservation, climate-smart farming, and agroforestry practices.
Research and Information Management
Set up and manage field trials following research protocols.
Collect field and social research data.
Contribute to project reporting, development of training manuals, and scientific writing.
On-Ground Project Management
Manage the Rural Resource Centre to facilitate knowledge transfer.
Prepare budgets, request funds, and account for expenditures.
Organize and support meetings, workshops, and presentations.
Supervise nursery workers to ensure quality seedling production.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning
Assist in monitoring and evaluation (M&E) processes.
Support baseline studies, surveys, impact assessments, and data collection.
Continuous Professional Development
Contribute to scientific publications using collected research data.
Where applicable, use research data for academic achievements.
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Agriculture, Agroforestry, Environmental Science, or a related field.
At least two (2) years of experience in extension services and scaling forestry/agroforestry programs.
Experience in setting up field experiments, monitoring, and data recording.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to conduct data analysis and write reports.
Strong organizational skills for meetings and workshops.
Motorcycle operation skills (mandatory).
