Job Description

Job Title:  Relationship Manager – SME

Organisation: Pride Bank Limited (PBL)

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda

Job Summary: 

The Relationship Manager – SME will report to the Manager – SME and will be based at Head office. He/ She will support the SME business unit and branches to develop and effectively management customer and other SME stakeholder relationships with a focus on new acquisitions and deepening of existing relationships to achieve the set business growth and asset quality targets for the SME segment.

He/she will be Responsible for the growth in business & financial targets as will be agreed using different parameters esp. on customer numbers, Liabilities, Assets and revenue growth

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include: –

  • Contribute to the formulation and implementation of strategies necessary for new client acquisition and maintaining existing ones to sustain growth of the SME business portfolio.

  • Continuously identify prospects for SME products uptake and generate a pipeline for daily review by the department on converted customers.

  • Manage customer relationships with a focus on ensuring that they are satisfied in order to cross sell and increase uptake of more bank products and services.

  • Actively undertake the negotiation and structuring of transactions in the prospective and closing stages with the aim of attaining value for the client, while protecting the business interests of the Bank

  • Support the branches on the timely and efficient preparation of high-quality credit proposals to achieve the turn-around time targets and gain competitiveness in the SME market.

  • Proactively follow up customers, and as well, support branch staff to ensure that SME customers service their credit facilities on time to achieve the set portfolio quality targets.

  • Active pipeline management with the objective of meeting agreed personal growth objectives across all product ranges and client segments.

  • Develop and maintain well documented reports/visits/contracts with all the Bank’s relationships, management, and other units and support branches to ensure that contact with customers is well documented.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

  • A Business degree in finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, management, or any relevant field.

  • Relevant Practical training in business growth in the financial services sector

  • Must have critical thinking, analytical, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in a Banking / relationship management role or similar environment.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Advanced computer literacy, numerical skills and statistical skills.

  • Team player, ability to work under pressure and in position to exercise excellent judgment.
