Job Description
The Regional Sales and Operations Manager will be responsible for expanding Mukuru’s presence and impact in East Africa. The role combines high-level strategy, field execution, and people leadership. Key responsibilities include increasing transaction volumes, enhancing operational processes, ensuring compliance with regulations, and managing cross-functional collaborations. The role requires frequent travel across East African markets and is ideal for someone with strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Drive transaction growth across branches, agents, and digital channels
Develop and execute customer acquisition and retention strategies
Expand agent and partner networks through activations and business development
Implement territory-specific marketing campaigns and track their ROI
Ensure regulatory and internal compliance standards are consistently met
Supervise cash handling, reconciliations, SLAs, and branch/agent operations
Lead internal audits and implement risk-reduction controls
Manage and mentor a diverse regional team including Sales Leads and Tellers
Foster a high-performance culture driven by KPIs
Collaborate with internal departments (Marketing, Compliance, Finance)
Lead continuous improvement initiatives across operations
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or related field
Postgraduate qualifications are an added advantage
Experience:
Minimum 6 years in sales, operations, or business development
At least 3 years in a senior leadership role within fintech, banking, or mobile network operations
Experience managing multi-country teams and regional projects
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of remittances, agent networks, and digital payments
Familiarity with AML/CFT and regional regulatory compliance
Expertise in sales forecasting, budgeting, and ROI analysis
Proficiency in Excel, CRM platforms, and dashboard reporting
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Multilingual skills (Swahili or French) are a plus
Ability and willingness to travel regularly across East Africa
