Regional Collections Manager

About the Role
Sun King is seeking a Regional Collections Manager to lead and optimize our collections processes for PAYG (Pay-As-You-Go) products in the field. This role requires a data-driven, strategic thinker who can analyze trends, provide actionable insights, and implement effective interventions to improve customer payments and satisfaction. You will play a key role in ensuring that our offerings meet customer needs while maintaining strong portfolio health.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Analyze repayment data using appropriate tools to provide actionable insights and improve portfolio performance.
Monitor regional collection trends and develop daily, weekly, and monthly strategies to increase recovery from delinquent accounts.
Conduct field visits and undercover (mystery) market checks to assess sales quality and gather insights to guide strategic decisions.
Provide weekly reports to Sales and Risk teams, outlining field activities, results, and customer feedback.
Design, pilot, and scale effective collection processes to enhance repayment rates and customer satisfaction.
Collaborate with Area Business Managers and Field Sales Executives to repossess products from delinquent customers, when necessary.
Report any observed cases of product tampering through established Risk protocols.
Support fraud detection and resolution by flagging suspicious activities such as sales misrepresentation or equipment manipulation.
Train Field Sales Executives on handling complex repayment challenges and executing product repossessions effectively.
Ensure follow-up with Field Officers to maintain consistency and timeliness in collections and repossessions.
Identify and establish local cash collection centers in priority repayment areas.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
You could be a great fit for this role if you have:
A Bachelor's degree or Higher Diploma in Finance, Community Development, Communication, Credit Risk Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, especially involving rural customer engagement.
Prior experience in microfinance, fintech, or banking—particularly in credit collections or debt recovery.
Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to draw insights from data.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong problem-solving ability and the capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Passion for working in the field and engaging with rural customers to resolve repayment issues.
Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with diverse stakeholders.
Experience in training and coaching field teams on collections processes is an added advantage.
