Job Description

Job Title: Receiving Supervisor – Abattoir
Reports To: Production manager
Duty station: Kigunga – Mukono
Job purpose:
Assist Production manager with daily operations of the Receiving of Live birds, Live birds Crate washing/control and the control of the killing process of birds.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Ensures live birds are received according to specifications and SOPs
Reporting to production manager variances between weigh-bridge and Receiving scale weight.
Completing and reporting the live bird number control, Receiving weight control and offal dispatch logs to the production manager daily
Ensure training of staff and new entrants
Ensures stunning of live birds, Halaal slaughtering and overall bleeding process is done according to specifications
Monitor and control attendance of all receiving members and live birds crate washing crew
Evaluating individual performance of individual receiving members
Ensures offloading of live birds, counting and weighing is done properly
Ensures cleaning and stacking of live bird crates is done properly
Taking good care of company property and equipment in the receiving section
Ensures hanging of birds is done according to work instructions
Ensures waste matter including blood, feathers, DOAs and condemned, intestines are properly disposed of in a manner which does not compromise safety of the environment and personnel.
Ensures cleaning of working area, wastewater sieve and live bird crates during and after production are done properly.
Ensures all chicken is clean, no feathers through proper scalding and regular de-feathering machine settings
Ensures adherence to food safety and product quality measures through GMPs
Any other roles assigned from time to time by production manager.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
Minimum of diploma in animal production or related field, business administration, accounting OR A level certificate with at least 3 years of experience in broiler chicken processing
Skills and Experience:
Detail oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy.
Highly organized and flexible.
Ability to multi-task and meet changing deadlines.
Must be self-directed and able to complete tasks with limited supervision.
Numeric literacy.
Ability to work long hours.
Product and customer awareness.
Supervisory skills
