Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Preparing cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities for construction projects
- Conducting feasibility studies and cost planning during the pre-construction phase
- Preparing tender documents, evaluating bids, and assisting in contractor selection
- Monitoring project costs and ensuring work is completed within approved budgets
- Measuring and valuing work done on site for interim and final payments
- Managing contracts, including variations, claims, and final accounts
- Advising on procurement strategies and cost-effective construction methods
- Ensuring compliance with contractual, legal, and regulatory requirements
- Preparing and submitting financial reports, cash flow forecasts, and cost analyses
- Managing risk, identifying potential cost overruns, and proposing mitigation measures
- Coordinating with architects, engineers, project managers, and contractors
- Assessing value for money and improving cost efficiency without compromising quality
- Verifying materials, labor, and equipment costs against project specifications
- Supporting dispute resolution and contract negotiations when required
- Ensuring proper documentation and record-keeping for all financial aspects of the project
