Position Summary:
ADRA Uganda is seeking a dedicated and experienced Public Health Officer to support the implementation of public health and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) initiatives under the TOGETHER Project. This role involves planning, coordination, technical support, and community engagement to promote inclusive, gender-responsive, and quality health services for adolescent girls, women, and children under five in Northern Uganda.
About the Project:
The TOGETHER Project is a six-year, multi-country initiative funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and ADRA Canada, running from September 2021 to August 2027. Implemented in Uganda by ADRA Uganda, the project focuses on improving health-related rights through inclusive health systems, SRHR, SGBV response, nutrition, and community accountability in the districts of Agago, Kitgum, Lamwo, and Pader.

How to Apply
Plan, implement, and monitor public health and SRHR-related activities across the project cycle.
Conduct participatory training for healthcare workers, CHWs, and educators on SRHR, SGBV, nutrition, and STI prevention.
Deliver tailored nutrition counselling to adolescent girls, young mothers, and those with special needs.
Train caregivers using the Learning Through Play (LTP) model to enhance early childhood development.
Coordinate with district health offices and health facilities for outreach programs and health events.
Represent the project in relevant technical working groups and Ministry of Health forums.
Collaborate with WASH officers to align health and sanitation initiatives.
Support community-based surveillance and use of public health assessment tools.
Facilitate community engagement and accountability (CEA) activities, including dialogue sessions and feedback mechanisms.
Contribute to disease surveillance and emergency preparedness through district-level coordination.
Conduct regular field visits, stakeholder meetings, and provide technical supervision.
Prepare timely narrative and financial reports, and document success stories and lessons learned.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Community Health, Nursing, Nutrition, or a related field.
Master’s degree in Public Health is an added advantage.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in health programming, particularly SRHR, nutrition, or SGBV response.
Experience working with district health systems and rural communities in Northern Uganda is highly desirable.
Strong skills in community mobilization, participatory training, and stakeholder coordination.
Excellent communication, report writing, and interpersonal skills.
Fluency in English; knowledge of Acholi or other local languages is an asset.
Willingness to travel frequently to rural project sites.
Commitment to safeguarding, gender equality, and inclusive programming.
High level of integrity, cultural sensitivity, and professionalism.
