Job Description
DRC Uganda is currently looking for highly qualified and motivated individuals to join our dynamic team as Protection Assistant- Gender Based Violence (GBV Case worker)
The overall purpose of the role:
The GBV Case Worker provides direct, confidential, and survivor-centred case management services to survivors of gender-based violence under the supervision of the Protection Team Leader. The role ensures survivors receive timely psychosocial support, safe referrals, and follow-up services in line with organizational Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), inter-agency GBV guidelines, and national laws. He/she will work and liaise closely with the GBV officer to ensure up-to-date documentation of GBV cases as per the donor requirements.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
- Project implementation and reporting
- Develop/strengthen relationships with agencies at the field level in close cooperation with the GBV officer and the Protection Team Leader.
- Provide survivor-centered GBV case management, including intake, assessment, safety planning, referrals, follow-up, and case closure.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop individualized action plans with survivors.
- Support survivors to access medical, legal, psychosocial, protection, and livelihood services through established referral pathways.
- Manage emergency and high-risk cases in coordination with supervisors and service providers
- Represent DRC in any relevant field based on case management meetings with case management actors whenever required.
- Maintain and strengthen existing networks through other service providers/sectors to ensure that survivors receive quality services and support within the GBV referral system.
- Identify and strengthen Community structures through engaging community leaders and other stakeholders to ensure that the survivors receive adequate support at the community level.
- Proactively contribute to the quality and timely drafting of weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports
- Make sure that all the GBV case management procedures adhere to the highest protection standards and principles, as well as DRC guidelines and accountability standards.
- Participate in case conferences and supervision meetings.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential GBV case files in line with data protection standards.
- Ensure all registered GBV cases are timely updated in Profile Global Registration System – Version 4. (ProGres V4) and GBV case trackers.
- Identify, document and disseminate relevant project success, challenges, and follow up on implementation of project’s action points.
- Assist in participatory needs/vulnerability and capacity assessments of affected communities.
- Staff development and management.
- Provide technical support and guidance on GBV case management for GBV community-based structures in.
- Uphold DRC’s code of conduct and principles of accountability.
- Logistics/finance
- Proactively plan and coordinate logistics and movement from and to different villages
- Follow-up all DRC’s procedures for security, Finance, Logistics, HR and Administration
- Additional tasks
- On request, perform any other additional duties assigned by the supervisors to allow the organization to function optimally.
- Adhere to DRC’s code of conduct
