Job Description
The Project Officer serves as the primary field contact, driving community mobilization, capacity building, acquisition/digital onboarding of women-led SACCOs and individual entrepreneurs to achieve financial inclusion for 1.5 million women at the bottom of the pyramid.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Project implementation
- Develop and maintain regional activity plans (weekly, monthly, and annually), budgets and schedules aligned with the project masterwork plan.
- Execute day-to-day project activities in line with the agreed work plan.
- Organize and manage project finances/logistics at field level, including timely submission and liquidation of expense claims.
- Maintain collaborative/cordial relationships with internal bank units (FlexiPay, SACCO and retail teams as well as external stakeholders)
- Maintain cordial working relationships with internal stakeholders/SBUL (FlexiPay, SACCOs, PPB) network relevant for execution of project activities.
Client mobilisation Acquisition
- Conduct community outreach to recruit women-led SACCOs and individual women entrepreneurs
- Facilitate end-to-end account opening and digital onboarding processes for new-to-bank clients.
- Provide “first-mile” technical support to ensure beneficiaries successfully adopt and use digital platforms.
- Support the delivery of trainings on financial literacy and digital tools to women’s groups.
- Establish strong partnerships with Civil Society Organizations, government entities, umbrella bodies, private sector) to scale mobilisation of nano/micro women to uptake services.
Capacity building
- Mobilize women (SACCOs, VSLAs, individual women) to benefit from capacity building trainings.
- Identify training needs and support the capacity-building contractor to ensure these are adequately addressed in training sessions.
- Support TOTs to rollout capacity building to beneficiaries.
- Narrative reports/updates, Participants logs/databases, Success stories Participants’ lists
- High quality captioned talking photographs
- Monitor credit facility utilization and maintain accurate user logs for loan applications and FlexiPay usage
Risk, compliance and reporting
- Ensure all KYC (Know Your Customer) documentation for individuals and groups is complete and compliant with SBUL and donor requirements.
- Proactively identify and report field-level operational risks or bottlenecks.
- Monitor local market trends and customer satisfaction to aid in improving credit and digital financial solutions offered by SBUL
Other Duties
- Undertake any additional duties as assigned by the Project Coordinator, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer and Manager Business Development (Women Banking, Savings and Credit Cooperatives)
- The Project Officer is a field-based “foot soldier role. While the officer may utilize SBUL branch office space in their assigned region, the majority of the time is spent in the community mobilizing, engaging and on-boarding clients. To achieve targets, the officer will liaise closely with relevant SBUL staff (Branch Managers, Sales teams, field-based teams, training teams, SACCO teams).
