About the Organisation
The Africa Centre for Energy and Mineral Policy (ACEMP) is a not-for-profit Organization founded in 2012 that promotes good governance, research, capacity building, equity, socio-economic justice and shared benefits in the development and exploitation of energy and extractive resources in Uganda. Our work is guided by a desire to contribute to Uganda’s Development Plans, Visions and Strategies; and ultimately contribute to the country’s attainment of at least 11 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
ACEMP’s work will largely be in Nakapiripirit and Amudat Districts, with some national level engagements. ACEMP therefore seeks to recruit one Project Officer to support the efficient and impactful implementation of the project in Nakapiripirit district.

Job Description
Job Title: Project Officer

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Job Summary: The Project Officer – Climate Justice and Environmental Accountability will be the key contact person for implementation of project activities and coordinating planning, administration and reporting on project activities in their area of deployment.
Reporting to the Programs and Communications Manager, the Project Officer will facilitate the development and implementation of project activities at the community, district and regional level in line with approved workplans. The officer will ensure timely preparation of progress reports and accountabilities.
The role requires someone who is highly organised, has a thorough understanding of the local context and dynamics and is capable of quick decision making to navigate the unique local political and social terrain. The person must be sensitive to the needs and priorities of different segments of the community, traditions, culture, beliefs and hierarchical structures.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
The Project Officer will:
Plan, coordinate and implement project activities.
Participate in the development of work plans and budgets.
Conduct stakeholder engagements and collaboration within the project area on all matters related to the project.
Participate in the writing of periodic reports and documenting lessons learned and experiences gathered, and where necessary, prepare presentations.
Contribute to production of research and policy briefs for public dissemination and engagement.
Monitor project activities, including collection of data for monitoring, evaluation and learning purposes.
Support creation, and/or strengthening of existing district and regional networks and strengthen collaboration among key stakeholders.
Represent ACEMP at relevant partners’ meetings, workshops and other networking events as may be deemed appropriate or be assigned by Management.
Effectively manage project funds and property in line with ACEMP’s relevant policies, procedures and standards.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
The ideal candidate must possess a university degree in Development Work; Social Work; Community Development; Environment; or related fields.
At least two years of working experience in rural development programming; community engagement, stakeholder consultation and working with/within communities and with district level stakeholders.
Possess knowledge of gender programming.
Demonstratable knowledge of monitoring and evaluation will be an added advantage.
Must be computer literate: MS applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
High level of integrity, commitment, strong report writing,
analytical and communication skills as well as knowledge of participatory
approaches.
Must be self-supervised and willing to adhere to organizational values.
Must have strong community mobilization skills.
Must be able to express themselves in one or two local languages i.e. Ngakarimojong, Pokot and Kiswahili.
Must be able to ride a motorcycle.
Must be willing to work in remote areas and be passionate about community development and environment issues.
