Job Description
The Project Officer will be responsible for:
Developing detailed project work plans and activity schedules.
Coordinating logistics, procurement requests, and resource allocation for road safety project activities.
Ensuring that project timelines, milestones, and deliverables are met in line with organizational and donor requirements.
Participating in the delivery of road safety awareness campaigns, training sessions, and community engagements.
Supporting the implementation of behavior change and educational programs targeting drivers, pedestrians, and vulnerable road users.
Collaborating with enforcement agencies, transport stakeholders, and government bodies to implement practical road safety measures.
Liaising with district authorities, schools, transport companies, police, and community leaders to mobilize participation in road safety initiatives.
Representing SWRW at stakeholder meetings, workshops, and coordination platforms as assigned.
Assisting in developing communication materials and messages for awareness campaigns.
Collecting and compiling project data, including attendance sheets, photos, and field reports.
Supporting monitoring and evaluation activities by conducting pre- and post-intervention surveys or assessments.
Contributing to the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports, success stories, and case studies for internal and donor reporting.
Ensuring adherence to SWRW’s safeguarding, procurement, and safety protocols during project implementation.
Identifying and escalating risks or issues that may affect project outcomes or safety.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Develop and manage project work plans and schedules.
Coordinate logistics and resource allocation for project activities.
Implement road safety awareness campaigns and training sessions.
Engage with stakeholders, including enforcement agencies and community leaders.
Collect and analyze project data for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
Prepare reports and communication materials for stakeholders and donors.
Ensure compliance with organizational protocols and safety standards.
Identify and address potential risks to project success.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Transport Planning, Public Health, Environmental Health, Transport & Logistics, or a related field.
Experience:
2–4 years of experience in project implementation, preferably within an NGO or road safety-related context.
Experience working with communities, schools, and local government structures is
Competencies:
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines.
Willingness to travel frequently to project locations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic data entry tools.
Knowledge of Uganda’s road safety landscape, traffic laws, and transport systems.
Fluency in English and at least one major local language spoken in SWRW’s target
