About Organisation:

The Government of Uganda (GoU) through the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities (MTWA) and Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), with support from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is implementing a five (5)-year Kidepo Landscape Integrated Conservation and Development Project (KLICDP) under the Eighth cycle of the Global Environment Facility (GEF-8). The Project aims to contribute to sustainable management and conservation of biodiversity and enhanced socio-economic development in the Kidepo Landscape. The Project focuses on combating wildlife poaching, illegal trade and trafficking; minimizing human-wildlife conflicts; improving livelihoods of the people; and enhancing biodiversity conservation and management within the target landscape.


The Ministry is in the process of establishing a Project Management Unit by filling various positions to facilitate effective and efficient implementation of the project. It’s against this background that the Ministry seeks to attract competent Ugandans to fill the various vacant positions indicated below.


Job Summary: 

The primary objective of the Project Officer: Communications and Knowledge management is to support the project in promoting and publicizing its activities and outputs. Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the Project Officer: Communications and Knowledge management is responsible for the publicity of the project activities including the development and implementation of the projects communication strategy.

  • An Honours degree in either Mass Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field from a recognized University/Institution.

  • A postgraduate qualification in any of the above fields is an added advantage

Experience

  • At least three (3) years’ experience in communications journalism, public relations from a reputable organization.

Knowledge and skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

  • Very good inter-personal skills;

  • High degree of initiative, flexibility and creativity;

  • Highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office, and related business and communication tools;

  • Content writing experience for all media platforms;

  • Proven social media and networking expertise.

Personal Attributes

  • Honesty and integrity.

  • Ability to gather and analyze information effectively.

  • Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

  • Strong interpersonal relations skills,
