About the PediSEP-1 Project
PediSEP-1 is a multi-country, cluster-randomised clinical trial focused on developing and testing a risk-differentiated approach to paediatric care in first-referral level hospitals across sub-Saharan Africa.
The goal is to reduce unnecessary antimicrobial use, limit antimicrobial resistance (AMR) transmission, and optimise hospital resources by identifying low-risk children who can be safely discharged early with appropriate caregiver support and follow-up.
Position Details
Title: Project Coordinator
Reports to: Principal Investigator
Location: Kampala, with frequent travel
Department: Programmes
Duration: 12 months (renewable, subject to donor funding)
Job Summary
The Project Coordinator will support the Principal Investigator in the effective implementation and coordination of the PediSEP-1 project. The role involves developing stakeholder engagement strategies, contributing to protocol and SOP development, managing daily project activities, coordinating with key stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with ethical and institutional standards.

How to Apply
Lead the development and implementation of the project’s stakeholder engagement strategy.
Support the design of study protocols, SOPs, data collection tools, and consent forms.
Coordinate and oversee day-to-day implementation of study activities in line with approved work plans, budgets, and protocols.
Schedule, monitor, and report progress on project milestones and deliverables.
Track project expenditures and support budget monitoring in collaboration with the finance team.
Serve as the liaison between the project and stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health, hospital management, DHOs, and implementing partners.
Organise co-design workshops, dissemination meetings, and stakeholder feedback sessions.
Document and follow up on action points arising from stakeholder engagements.
Prepare and coordinate ethics submissions, regulatory documents, and periodic progress reports.
Ensure effective communication and collaboration across consortium partners.
Uphold institutional, donor, and ethical compliance requirements.

Essential:
Bachelor’s degree in Medicine or Nursing.
At least 5 years of experience coordinating clinical research studies.
Experience in stakeholder engagement, particularly in health systems strengthening or clinical research.
Strong understanding of clinical trial coordination, ethical submissions, budget management, and donor reporting.
Proven ability in policy dialogue, facilitation, negotiation, and consensus building.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools.
Experience working with government institutions, hospitals, and NGOs.
Desirable:
Graduate qualification in Public Health.
Experience in health research and development projects.
Familiarity with data management platforms such as REDCap.
Strategic thinker with the ability to align project goals with stakeholder priorities.
Skilled in participatory and community engagement methods.
Flexible, adaptable, and committed to ethical research and safeguarding principles.
