Job Description
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the programmatic management, coordination, and delivery of the Morbidity Management and Disability Prevention (MMDP) and Disease Management and Disability Inclusion (DMDI) targets under the Reaching the Last Mile (RLM) MMDP ELMA/EFLA (Eliminating LF in Africa) DMDI projects in Uganda. The role requires close collaboration with the Ministry of Health’s NTD Program to support impact assessment, advocacy for the elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis, and health system strengthening. The coordinator will also identify opportunities for programme growth and development in partnership with colleagues and stakeholders.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Strategic Programme Planning and Development
- Participate in strategic planning processes to drive cost-effective MMDP services and ensure RLM ELMA/ELFA objectives are achieved.
- Collaborate with the Ministry of Health and partners to develop strategies for hydrocele and lymphoedema case management.
- Provide leadership to ensure MMDP maps are maintained for tracking patient counselling, treatment, and surgeries.
- Oversee Facility Assessments: Hydrocele Facility Assessment (HFAT) and Lymphedema Facility Assessment (LFAT).
- Support patient estimation and uptake using WHO-recommended approaches.
- Coordinate planning, budgeting, progress tracking, and reporting for RLM ELMA/ELFA MMDP activities in Uganda.
Programme Management
- Provide management, technical guidance, and resource allocation to support MMDP/DMDI activities under RLM ELMA/ELFA funding.
- Support NGO partners in maintaining effective relationships with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders for sustainable national plans.
- Implement Social and Behaviour Change initiatives for Lymphedema and Hydrocele management.
- Oversee surgical and self-care supplies, including FASTT materials, training packages, and lymphoedema management kits.
- Support surgical delivery from case management to post-surgical reporting, supervision, and data analysis.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Lead M&E systems development for implementing partners to track programme performance.
- Support research teams to identify operational research opportunities that improve NTD elimination efficiency.
Advocacy and Strategic Alliances
- Build and maintain working relationships with national-level partners and stakeholders for advocacy and visibility.
- Ensure smooth information flow across Sightsavers’ country teams, the Ministry of Health, and other key partners.
