Project Coordinator, Reading Glasses Project job at Evidence Action
Evidence Action
Job Description
The Project Coordinator will report to the Program Manager and be responsible for both office and field-based activities, with approximately 60% office and 40% fieldwork. The role involves planning, coordinating, and implementing approximately 20 reading glasses distribution events weekly. The Coordinator will oversee training sessions, logistics, stakeholder engagement, inventory management, and ensure quality data collection and reporting in collaboration with the MLE (Monitoring, Learning, and Evaluation) team. This is a temporary 6-month position.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Training & Capacity Building
Train staff on client interaction, data collection, and screening protocols.
Organize training sessions, venues, and materials.
Coordinate with health professionals for specialized training.
Evaluate trainee competence and recommend improvements.
Logistics & Event Coordination
Plan and manage ~20 distribution events per week.
Support field staff and monitor supply usage.
Track event budgets and expenses.
Report on event success and challenges.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
Engage district leadership, CSOs, and community stakeholders.
Share progress updates and co-create messaging strategies.
Execute awareness campaigns through radio, SMS, and town criers.
Monitoring, Learning, and Evaluation
Ensure proper data collection and management with MLE support.
Conduct continuous quality improvement for field operations.
Inventory & Stock Management
Track and assess inventory needs and supplies.
Allocate reading glasses and screening kits efficiently.
Maintain secure storage to prevent damage or loss.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; an advanced diploma or degree in Public Health is a strong advantage.
Minimum 4 years of experience in public health and/or project management.
Experience in vision care or adaptive technology is a plus.
Strong technical understanding of project logistics and coordination.
Fluent in English and the local language spoken in Mbale.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
High level of discipline, integrity, teamwork, and community service attitude.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and data management tools.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs for handling inventory is desirable.
