Position Overview

We’re looking for a dedicated Project Assistant to support our work in Kiryandongo and Kabale. As part of the field team, you’ll help implement community-based projects, facilitate training, and monitor progress to ensure the success and sustainability of our interventions. This role requires frequent travel (up to 90%) and strong collaboration with both community members and internal teams.

How to Apply

Project Implementation

  • Facilitate project design review meetings with partner communities and provide feedback to refine project plans and budgets.

  • Coordinate and support training sessions in areas such as:

    • Financial literacy & mindset change

    • Water, sanitation & hygiene (WASH)

    • Agriculture & livestock management

    • Village savings & loans associations (VSLAs)

    • Health outreach programs

  • Implement RTV’s methodologies to drive income growth and poverty reduction.

  • Request and verify goods and services needed for implementation.

  • Support community groups and households in maintaining project standards.

  • Identify risks and recommend practical solutions to improve outcomes.

  • Host regular meetings with community leaders to discuss project progress and feedback.

Reporting & Administration

  • Develop and manage weekly work plans.

  • Submit regular field reports and support donor reporting and proposal development.

  • Participate in team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and next steps.

  • Prepare and submit weekly financial requests and accountability reports.

  • Capture and share photos for RTV’s data repository.

Monitoring & Evaluation

  • Provide feedback to the Project Officer and program team to enhance project delivery.

  • Suggest improvements or new activities to increase project sustainability and community impact.

  • Take on additional tasks as assigned by your supervisor or management.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Community Development, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant field experience in rural or last-mile community settings.


Technical & Personal Competencies

  • Strong facilitation and training skills.

  • Excellent communication skills in both English and relevant local languages.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Deep understanding of community-based development principles.

  • Able to work independently and within a team environment.

  • Flexible, creative problem-solver with a proactive mindset.

  • High level of physical fitness for fieldwork, including hiking in challenging terrain.

  • Must be comfortable traveling up to 90% of the time.

  • Ability to ride a motorbike is a strong advantage.
