Job Description
The Project Assistant is responsible for planning, administering, and monitoring sponsorship and development activities at the community level. This includes engaging children, sponsors, parents, and community volunteers; facilitating child protection initiatives; coordinating visits; supporting sector programs; conducting needs assessments; managing community assets; and ensuring quality service delivery.
The role also requires capacity building for community structures (PEC, CYEC), supporting program implementation, and mobilizing households to participate in sponsorship and project interventions. Work is conducted on-site in community settings, often in remote areas.

How to Apply
Sponsorship Management
Conduct home visits to support child welfare and household economic empowerment.
Facilitate sponsorship awareness and safety net sensitization in communities.
Ensure enrolled children and families participate in program activities.
Support community growth plans and child enrollment processes.
Ensure timely and professional sponsor relations and child correspondence.
Respond to sponsor queries promptly.
Train and guide Community Volunteers, CYEC, and PEC on operational policies.
Ensure adherence to child protection policies.
Engage children and youth in developmental activities.
Coordinate sponsor visits and provide required documents.
Mobilize parents and communities to participate in sponsorship programs.
Program Management & Development
Collaborate with Senior Coordinator, Partners, and community leaders to ensure quality service delivery.
Manage community assets.
Conduct needs assessments and escalate development initiatives.
Mentor Community Volunteers and sector committees for effective program monitoring.
Facilitate participation of parents, youth, and community members in project review meetings.
Visit households with unique challenges and support problem-solving.
Work with stakeholders (parents, caregivers, leaders) to implement program activities.
Support training and events for community groups.
Manage project funds in line with ChildFund standards.
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Capacity Building & Development
Identify capacity gaps among CMs, PEC, and CYEC and support through training and coaching.
Organize and support community committee elections.
Strengthen local leadership participation in program activities.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Social Administration, Education, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Adult and Community Education, Project Management, or related field.
Minimum 2 years’ experience implementing community-led programs for children (0–24 years).
Experience working in development or humanitarian contexts.
Ability to ride a motorcycle.
Proficiency in Lusamia (local language) is required.
Technical Skills
Strong writing and facilitation skills.
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Working knowledge of Kobo Collect, ComCare, DHIS-2, and similar applications.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and networking skills.
Ability to work in remote areas and understand local project contexts.
