The Strategic Impact Evaluation and Learning (SIEL) program, a collaborative six-year learning partnership, is spearheaded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) in partnership with the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) and the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (IPA). The program is designed to:
Build a solid evidence foundation to determine 'what works,' including long-term effects
Improve the efficiency and effectiveness of FCDO’s interventions and policies in key priority areas
Equip FCDO staff with the skills to utilize impact evaluations and maximize value for money

How to Apply
40% Research Fund Coordination
Oversee the regular competitive funding process, including drafting calls for proposals, coordinating with FCDO and research teams, managing proposal reviews, and supervising grant agreement development
Track the status of grants and projects within SIEL’s portfolio through detailed reviews of deliverables and ongoing communication with research teams
Collaborate internally with IPA teams, including research support, programs, grants, legal, finance, and global operations
Support grant reporting to donors and assist in the first review and filtering of research studies for competitive fund review boards
30% Project Development
Assist the Program Lead in project development activities, such as outreach and providing support to FCDO teams in proposal development and facilitating matchmaking with researchers
Work closely with FCDO teams, IPA and J-PAL Country Offices, researchers, and implementing organizations to support project development efforts
20% Communications and Policy Outreach
Collaborate with the SIEL Research Uptake Lead and Program Lead in organizing and preparing materials for dissemination activities
Support additional dissemination activities, including updating IPA’s website with project summaries and presenting at events
Assist SIEL’s Capacity Strengthening Lead in preparing materials for training sessions and capacity-building initiatives
10% General Program Administration
Assist with financial monitoring and program administration
Contribute to the implementation of IPA’s diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy, tracking SIEL’s progress on organizational metrics
Required
Bachelor’s degree in economics, political science, public policy, or related fields
A minimum of 2 years of experience in project/research management, research fund management, or research dissemination
Strong project management skills, including attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely to both internal and external stakeholders
Ability to present information in a structured and insightful manner, both in writing and speaking
Flexibility, self-motivation, eagerness to learn, and a collaborative team-oriented attitude
Preferred
Master’s degree in economics, political science, public policy, or related fields
Knowledge of impact evaluation methodologies
Familiarity with topics such as humanitarian assistance, climate and nature, economic growth, or conflict and fragility
Experience in writing evidence syntheses, research summaries, and policy briefs
Proficiency in Excel and CRM software, such as Salesforce
