Job Description
The Production Officer (Semi-Solid Preparations) oversees manufacturing operations of topical dosage forms such as ointments and creams. This includes preparing equipment and raw materials, supervising batch execution, monitoring process parameters, conducting in-process checks, maintaining documentation, and ensuring cleaning protocols are followed. The officer works closely with production operators, quality assurance, and engineering teams to ensure consistent product quality and operational efficiency. This position requires strong technical knowledge, supervisory experience, and a commitment to safety and compliance in a pharmaceutical environment.

Supervise manufacturing of ointments, creams, and other semi-solids as per BMRs and SOPs.
Prepare and ensure availability of equipment and materials before batch execution.
Operate and monitor mixing, homogenizing, and vacuum systems to maintain process control.
Ensure compliance with batch-specific parameters such as temperature, mixing speed, and timing.
Conduct and document in-process quality checks (e.g., pH, viscosity, appearance).
Oversee bulk product transfers and coordinate with packaging teams for seamless batch transition.
Maintain accurate production records, cleaning logs, and deviation reports.
Supervise cleaning and sanitization of production areas and equipment.
Participate in validation and scale-up processes of new formulations.
Uphold hygiene, safety, and environmental protocols during operations.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Academic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Diploma in Pharmacy, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related technical field.
Experience and Competencies:
Minimum 3–4 years’ experience in semi-solid manufacturing in a pharmaceutical or cosmetics production environment.
Deep understanding of semi-solid formulation processes and associated equipment.
Familiarity with cGMP documentation, cleaning validation, and batch execution protocols.
Proven supervisory and coordination skills.
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities and a focus on quality.
Ability to collaborate across departments and drive process improvements.
