Job Description
The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries invites applications from qualified individuals to fill the position of Procurement Assistant. The successful candidate will support the procurement function by assisting in the sourcing, acquisition, and management of goods and services in accordance with government procurement regulations and internal policies. The role is key to ensuring transparency, efficiency, and compliance in procurement operations.
Project Name: Uganda Climate-Smart Agricultural Transformation Project (UCSATP)
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of procurement plans and specifications for goods, services, and works
- Support the preparation and evaluation of tender documents, quotations, and bids
- Maintain accurate procurement records, files, and databases
- Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and service providers on procurement-related matters
- Ensure compliance with the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets (PPDA) Act and Ministry guidelines
- Track delivery schedules and follow up on procurement contracts to ensure timely supply
- Assist in preparing reports on procurement activities, expenditures, and vendor performance
- Support audits and internal reviews of procurement processes
- Assist in organizing procurement meetings, workshops, and trainings as required
- Perform any other procurement-related duties assigned by the supervisor
