Job Description
The Logistics Assistant will support the efficient coordination of importation and supply chain activities, ensuring timely clearance, delivery, and compliance with Ugandan regulatory requirements. The role involves close coordination with government agencies, shipping partners, and internal teams to ensure smooth movement of agricultural inputs from origin to warehouse.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Process and obtain import permits for feeds, chemicals, sprayers, seeds, and veterinary products in compliance with national regulations
- Liaise with regulatory authorities including MAAIF (Entebbe, Namalere, Kawanda, and Mukono offices), NDA, and URA to facilitate import approvals and clearances
- Prepare, submit, and follow up on documentation required for import clearance
- Review shipping documents such as invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and marine insurance policies
- Monitor shipment schedules and track Estimated Time of Arrival (ETAs) at the Port of Mombasa
- Coordinate clearing and forwarding activities to ensure timely cargo release
- Ensure timely renewal of import permits and regulatory licenses
- Track orders from proforma invoice issuance through shipment and final delivery to the warehouse
- Maintain accurate logistics records and update shipment tracking reports
- Support stock planning by providing timely updates on incoming shipments
- Ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations at all times
