Job Description
Job Opportunity: Poultry Farm Manager

Location: Mawokota, Mpigi District, Uganda
Position Overview
The Poultry Farm Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all farm operations, ensuring optimal flock health, productivity, and operational efficiency. This role requires a balance of technical poultry expertise, leadership, and business acumen.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Brooding management: Oversee proper chick placement, heating, and early-life care.
Flock health & performance: Monitor bird health, identify disease symptoms, and coordinate veterinary interventions.
Production supervision: Track feed consumption, weight gain, mortality, and feed conversion rates.
Farm operations & maintenance: Ensure smooth running of facilities, equipment, and farm infrastructure.
Biosecurity enforcement: Implement and monitor strict biosecurity protocols.
Staff leadership: Supervise, train, and motivate farm workers for high performance.
Data reporting: Generate and submit reports on key production metrics — including mortality rates, feed usage, costs, and input/output tracking.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Education: Diploma in Animal Science, Poultry Management, Agriculture, or a related discipline.
Experience:
At least 5 years of hands-on experience in commercial poultry farming.
Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or management position in a similar setting.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of poultry physiology, nutrition, biosecurity, and disease management.

Leadership & Team Management: Ability to lead a diverse team and maintain a productive work environment.
Problem-Solving: Strong decision-making and troubleshooting skills.
Technical Savvy: Familiarity with farm management software, data analysis, and modern poultry systems.
Business Awareness: Understanding of budgeting, cost control, and operational efficiency.
Communication Skills: Clear written and verbal communication with staff, suppliers, and management.
Physical Fitness: Willingness to work long hours and under all weather conditions.
Passion for Poultry: A genuine interest in poultry welfare and a commitment to high standards.
