Job Description
Reporting to the Facility Manager, the Plumber will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of all plumbing systems at the Ellen DeGeneres Campus. This includes installing, repairing, and maintaining water supply systems, sewage drainage, firefighting systems, and eco-friendly infrastructure such as rainwater harvesting and wetlands management. The role also involves preventive maintenance on plumbing equipment, laundry machines, and water heating systems, troubleshooting system issues, preparing maintenance reports, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The Plumber will play a vital role in maintaining high-quality facilities to support conservation, research, and visitor engagement.

Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems across campus buildings.
Conduct preventive maintenance on water systems, sewage drainage, grease traps, rainwater drainage, firefighting equipment, booster pumps, submersible pumps, and water heaters.
Perform inspections, identify faults, and implement corrective actions.
Maintain wetland systems, water tanks, and eco-friendly plumbing installations.
Support installation and acceptance of new plumbing equipment.
Ensure tools and plumbing equipment meet safety requirements.
Carry out preventive maintenance on laundry machines.
Produce maintenance reports and recommend system upgrades.
Maintain a materials list, specifying requirements and vendors.
Work collaboratively with other technicians and provide support as needed.
Ensure reliable water availability across the campus.
Perform other duties assigned by the Facility Manager.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education
Certificate or Diploma in Plumbing or Building Services Engineering from a recognized institution.
Additional certification in water systems management, solar water heating, or health and safety is an advantage.
Experience
3–5 years’ proven experience in plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance.
Experience working with NGOs, conservation organizations, or in remote field environments (preferred).
Knowledge of eco-friendly systems (rainwater harvesting, solar heating, wastewater management) is advantageous.
Skills and Abilities
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
Proficiency in installing and repairing pipes, valves, fixtures, and drainage systems.
Knowledge of water conservation techniques and sanitation infrastructure.
Skilled in safe handling of plumbing tools and equipment.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, adapt to challenging environments, and manage multiple tasks.
