Job Description
As a Plant Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the plant during your shift. This includes monitoring power production, supporting system start-up and shut-down processes, keeping detailed logs, performing emergency procedures, and ensuring cleanliness and safety. You will troubleshoot system disturbances, assist in maintenance tasks, and communicate operational statuses clearly to your team. This role demands responsibility, technical capability, and a passion for innovation and sustainability in the energy sector.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Operate and maintain the power plant according to company policies and dispatch directives.
Maintain plant production at management-designated output levels.
Assist in the start-up, shut-down, and daily operations of power plant systems.
Maintain logs and records in compliance with guidelines.
Respond to and report system disturbances and performance issues.
Maintain equipment cleanliness and safety.
Execute emergency procedures to protect personnel and equipment.
Conduct basic maintenance and assist with corrective actions.
Perform complete shift handovers, detailing any abnormalities or malfunctions.
Comply with all safety protocols and promote a safe work culture.
Fulfill additional tasks as assigned by your supervisor.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
Kenyan citizenship.
Minimum 1 year of experience working in a power plant or similar setting.
Competencies:
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of safety protocols and technical procedures.
Attention to detail in record-keeping and operations.
