Position Overview
We are looking for a People Business Partner to support our operations in Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, Niger, Ethiopia, and Malawi. This role will report to the People Lead for East Africa and will serve as a strategic advisor and operational expert for leaders and employees across the cluster.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping Ericsson’s people strategy, driving compliance, facilitating change, and reinforcing our reputation as a top employer in the region.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Serve as the trusted HR advisor to managers and employees across assigned countries and be an active member of the Country Leadership Team.
Act as the primary People Function representative and ambassador for your cluster.
Ensure alignment with local labor laws and internal global People policies.
Lead the implementation of People strategies, programs, and tools across the full employee lifecycle.
Support organizational change initiatives and ensure effective local execution.
Provide strategic insights on local market and industry trends to inform broader HR strategy.
Maintain positive industrial and employee relations and manage local stakeholder relationships.
Advise and support line managers and cross-functional HR partners on people challenges and decision-making.
Collaborate with SME teams across Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Total Rewards, L&D, and Analytics.
Drive employee engagement programs at the local level.
Oversee local HR vendor and partner management to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an HR Business Partner or strategic HR role.
Proven understanding of core HR disciplines including employee relations, recruitment, performance management, and change leadership.
Strong analytical and presentation skills; proficient in Microsoft Office.
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills.
Ability to work proactively and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
Fluency in English is required; French is an added advantage.
Prior experience in the Telecom or ICT industry is desirable.
Preferred Location:
The role can be based in either Uganda (Kampala) or Rwanda (Kigali).
