Job Description

The Orthopaedic Officer will play a vital role in treating injuries and disorders related to the musculoskeletal system. Responsibilities include manipulating and recommending treatments, assisting in surgical operations, fitting prosthetic and orthotic devices, conducting community outreach, and collaborating with clinicians and physiotherapy teams. The role requires maintaining high ethical standards and ensuring accurate data collection and reporting.

How to Apply

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage injuries and diseases of bones, muscles, and nerves

  • Assist in pre-operative, operative, and post-operative patient care, including surgeries

  • Collaborate with clinicians for emergency fracture care

  • Identify and refer patients in need of mobility devices and coordinate care

  • Fit and train patients in the use of prosthetic and orthotic devices

  • Conduct follow-up home visits for patients unable to travel

  • Collaborate with district hospital orthopaedic and physiotherapy teams

  • Maintain high ethical standards and uphold MTI Code of Conduct

  • Collect and submit accurate reports and data

  • Perform any other duties as assigned

Education & Certification:

  • Diploma in Orthopaedics (Required)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Orthopaedics (Preferred)

  • Registered with Allied Health Professionals Council (Required)

  • Valid practicing license (Required)


Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant orthopaedics experience (Required)

  • Experience with international NGOs (Advantageous)


Knowledge:

  • Principles and practices of orthopaedic care

  • Infection prevention and hygiene management protocols


Skills:

  • Skilled in diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions

  • Able to identify and apply appropriate medical devices

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and patient counselling skills

  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written)


Abilities:

  • Maintain confidentiality of patient records

  • Treat all patients and staff with fairness and dignity

  • Provide ethical, compassionate, and patient-centered care

  • Maintain detailed and accurate medical records

  • Adhere to MTI's mission and code of conduct

  • Flexibility and resilience in challenging conditions
