Job Description
The role involves operating manual or semi-automatic packing equipment for secondary packaging processes, including labeling, cartoning, overwrapping, and boxing. The operator ensures the accuracy of printed materials and codes, proper assembly of packaging components, and correct documentation. Responsibilities also include performing visual inspections, managing line changeovers, and maintaining cleanliness in the packing area. The candidate should have hands-on experience in pharmaceutical secondary packing, a strong understanding of traceability, and the ability to work efficiently in a highly regulated environment.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Carry out cartoning, labeling, overwrapping, and boxing of finished pharmaceutical products.
Operate semi-automatic/manual packaging machines as per SOPs and batch records.
Ensure proper assembly and packing in compliance with product specifications and quality standards.
Verify printed codes, labels, and packaging materials for correctness.
Handle packaging components with care to prevent damage or contamination.
Conduct routine visual inspections to identify defects or inconsistencies.
Accurately document production quantities, cleaning logs, and shift reports.
Assist in line clearance and product batch changeovers.
Follow cGMP, hygiene, and safety procedures at all times.
Work closely with quality and production teams to maintain packaging quality and standards.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Academic Qualifications:
Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) minimum.
A certificate or diploma in Industrial Technology, Packaging, or a related field is an added advantage.
Experience and Competencies:
Minimum of 4–5 years of hands-on experience in secondary packing for oral solid dosage forms.
Solid understanding of tablet compression machinery, tooling, and packaging parameters.
Familiarity with cGMP, cleaning validation, and documentation protocols.
Ability to interpret batch records and operate within a regulated pharmaceutical environment.
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
Experience working within collaborative, cross-functional production teams.
