The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) is a semi-autonomous institution, established in May 1995, as the principal agency in Uganda, charged with the responsibility of coordinating, monitoring, regulating and supervising environmental management in the country.
NEMA spearheads the development of environmental policies, laws, regulations, standards and guidelines; and guides Government on sound environment management in Uganda. In doing this, NEMA contributes to social-economic development and wise use of natural resources, focusing on providing support to Government’s main goal of ensuring sustainable development contributing to the National Vision, the National Development Plan (NDP), regional and global commitments including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Job Summary
NEMA is seeking a responsible, detail-oriented, and motivated Office Assistant to support its administrative operations. The Office Assistant will play a key role in ensuring smooth daily office functions, including mail handling, hospitality services, and general support to staff and visitors.

How to Apply
Open and close NEMA offices on time and ensure workspaces are ready for use.
Collect and deliver mail, parcels, and official documents to and from the Post Office, vendors, and partner institutions.
Sort internal and external mail, maintain delivery records, and ensure timely dispatch and receipt.
Pack and label outgoing materials and documents appropriately.
Prepare and serve tea or refreshments to staff and guests, ensuring preferences are met.
Manage pantry cleanliness and ensure the effective use and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
Monitor and manage inventory for pantry supplies (milk, tea, sugar, coffee, etc.).
Maintain high hygiene standards in the kitchen and office premises.
Perform other official duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE)
At least 12 months of relevant experience in office support or administrative roles
Key Competencies & Skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong time management and organizational skills
Good communication and interpersonal abilities
High level of integrity, discipline, and confidentiality
