Job Description
Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the Nutrition Officer will play a vital role in ensuring the effective integration of health, nutrition, and climate adaptation within schools and surrounding communities. This position involves supporting the implementation of school feeding programs, enhancing dietary diversity, promoting healthy eating behaviors, and building the capacity of key actors such as teachers, school management committees, cooks, and community members. The officer will also help strengthen local systems for sustainable nutrition outcomes, ensure adherence to national policies and standards, and collaborate with stakeholders to achieve project goals.

How to Apply
Provide technical leadership on nutrition programming and school feeding initiatives
Support the implementation of integrated nutrition, health, agriculture, and climate adaptation activities
Conduct capacity-building sessions for school staff, cooks, school clubs, and community groups
Promote the adoption of good nutrition and hygiene practices among school children and households
Collaborate with relevant government ministries and local authorities to align activities with policies
Monitor and evaluate nutrition interventions and contribute to reporting
Assist in adapting the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) nutrition curriculum
Facilitate training on home-grown school feeding and dietary diversity improvement
Strengthen community-based nutrition systems and support resilience-building initiatives
Document success stories, lessons learned, and share technical inputs for knowledge management
Maintain accurate records and ensure timely reporting of all project activities
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition, Public Health, Food and Dietetics, Community Nutrition, or a related field
Postgraduate qualification in Nutrition or related field is an added advantage
Experience:
At least 3 years of experience in community nutrition programs, preferably related to school feeding or food system strengthening
Experience implementing integrated health, agriculture, and climate adaptation programs
Familiarity with Uganda’s national school feeding policy, MoES nutrition curriculum, and SBCC methodologies
Proven experience in training, mentoring, and working with schools and community groups
Experience working with government bodies and international partners (e.g., WFP)
Experience working in Karamoja or a similar context is preferred
Must be able to ride a motorcycle with a valid riding permit
Competencies:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders
Knowledge of gender and disability mainstreaming in nutrition programs
Ability to deliver participatory training and community engagement sessions
Integrity, professionalism, and a strong commitment to humanitarian values
