Job Description
Job Title: Network Administrator
Organization: Movit Products Limited
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
A critical role responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and supporting the organization’s network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability of network systems while supporting our business objectives
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless networks while ensuring high availability and performance of all network systems
Monitor network performance, security, and availability using specialized software and tools, responding promptly to any disruptions or security incidents
Configure and maintain network hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, and other network security devices while implementing security measures to protect against unauthorized access
Develop and maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures to ensure proper knowledge management and compliance

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
5+ years of experience in network administration
Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Network+, or equivalent
Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SFTP)
Experience with network hardware configuration (Cisco, Juniper, or similar enterprise networking equipment)
Proficiency in network security tools, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems
Understanding of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
Knowledge of network monitoring and analysis tools
Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash)
3 years of experience in a similar role preferably in the FMCG environment.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Strong project management and organizational abilities
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Detail-oriented with excellent documentation skills
Adaptable to changing technology landscapes and business needs
Ability to work flexible hours when required for system maintenance or emergencies
