Job Description
Medical Trainer
Organization: LifeNet International Uganda
Location: Fort Portal or Mbale, Uganda
Duration: 1 Year

Reporting to: Program Manager
LifeNet Uganda is recruiting a Ugandan National for the role of Medical Trainer to support capacity building at partner health facilities through high-quality medical training and mentorship, ensuring the effective delivery of the LifeNet curriculum to improve maternal and child health outcomes.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Planning & Budgeting
Lead development of annual cohort-specific workplans and budgets for medical training workshops and mentorships in consultation with Program and Finance Managers.
Monitor expenditures against budgets and support biannual budget re-forecasts as needed.
Coordinate logistics, materials, and venues for centralized training workshops.
Develop clear Scopes of Work (SOWs) for all training and mentorship activities.
Training & Mentorship
Facilitate centralized medical training workshops using adult learning methodologies per the annual work plan.
Conduct regular on-site mentorships, follow-ups, and clinical supervision visits to ensure quality standards and practice improvements.
Support partner health facilities in accessing and engaging with online e-learning platforms.
Identify training gaps and emerging issues to inform future training sessions.
Provide technical assistance for curriculum review and accreditation, adapting materials to local contexts.
Represent LifeNet at district, diocesan, and facility meetings as needed.
Analyze trends and unmet needs to recommend strategies for sustainable improvements in health facilities.
Participate in maternal and neonatal death audits and support facilities in developing mitigation strategies.
Continuously assess health facility capacity-building needs and strengths.
Reporting & Documentation
Prepare timely and accurate monthly, bi-annual, and annual reports following LifeNet Uganda standards.
Submit accountability reports after each activity.
Document success stories and case studies to showcase program impact.
Disseminate reports to key stakeholders including church partners and government authorities.
Integrate data feedback into routine mentorship and supervision visits.
Partner Development
Maintain strong relationships with partner health facilities and district health teams.
Attend technical meetings at district and diocesan levels as needed.
Uphold LifeNet’s image and ensure compliance with local church and health regulatory bodies.
Support the Program Manager and Country Director in identifying opportunities to expand program support and resources.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Midwifery with a current registered license.
Postgraduate qualification (Masters or Diploma) in administration, management, or a related field is an advantage.
Strong proficiency in English and computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel).
Minimum of 4 years’ direct patient care experience; teaching experience is a plus.
At least 1 year experience supervising teams.
Proven leadership, coordination, and report writing skills.
Solid understanding of health systems strengthening.
Excellent organizational, written, and communication skills.
Emotional maturity and openness to constructive feedback.
Commitment to LifeNet’s safeguarding requirements and Christian ethics, including affirming the Apostles’ Creed.
