Position Summary
C-Care Uganda is seeking qualified Medical Officers to join our dedicated healthcare team in Mbarara. The ideal candidates will be responsible for delivering high-quality clinical care across outpatient and inpatient settings while ensuring operational efficiency and excellent patient outcomes.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive patient assessments, diagnoses, and treatments in line with C-Care protocols and based on thorough history-taking, examinations, and appropriate investigations (e.g., labs, imaging).
Monitor and follow up on patient care, ensuring timely completion of tests, imaging, specialist consultations, and treatment plans.
Provide consistent Outpatient Department (OPD) coverage and ensure timely review of all patient files.
Maintain familiarity with hospital facilities, services, equipment, and associated charges.
Liaise effectively with specialists and external service providers regarding patient referrals and continuity of care.
Offer training and support to junior medical staff on triage, patient handling, and other clinical protocols.
Participate actively in Continuous Medical Education (CME) sessions—both in-person and online.
Support ambulance services by reviewing and preparing patients for safe transfers as needed.
Understand and apply knowledge of insurance schemes, entitlements, and ensure accurate completion of insurance claims.
Provide ward coverage when assigned, including conducting regular rounds and documenting patient care clearly and thoroughly.
Ensure proper handover between shifts, with complete and clear reporting to the incoming Medical Officer.
Contribute to ongoing system evaluations and process improvements within the facility.
Undertake any other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB)
Full registration and valid practicing license from the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council (UMDPC)
Strong clinical judgment, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
Excellent knowledge of hospital systems, medical equipment, and protocols
Ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
Commitment to ethical, high-quality patient care
Strong written and verbal communication skills
