Job Description: Management of Three Plantation Estate Clinics
Reports to: The General Managers
Position Summary:
The Medical Doctor will provide clinical leadership and oversight for three estate clinics located in Kalangala, Sangobay, and Buvuma. The role involves delivering high-quality primary healthcare services, supervising clinic and support staff, ensuring compliance with health standards, coordinating public health programs, and improving the overall well-being of estate employees and surrounding communities. The doctor will ensure consistent medical coverage and operational efficiency across the three sites.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
A. Clinical Care
Provide diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for outpatients and emergency cases.
Conduct routine medical check-ups, screenings, and health assessments for estate employees and communities when required.
Manage chronic conditions and ensure continuity of care.
Oversee referral of complex cases to partner hospitals when necessary.
Ensure proper documentation of medical encounters and follow-up care.
B. Clinic Management & Oversight
Supervise healthcare staff, including nurses, clinical officers, laboratory technicians, and support staff across all three clinics.
Develop duty rosters to ensure adequate staffing and coverage at each estate clinic.
Ensure smooth operation of pharmacy services, including stock control, rational use of medicines, and ordering and replacement through the procurement process.
Monitor medical equipment functionality and ensure timely maintenance.
Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for clinical services.
Coordinate with the EHSS team to reduce work-related injuries and lost time incidents (LTI).
C. Public Health & Preventive Programs
Lead health promotion, disease prevention, and occupational health campaigns across estates.
Coordinate vaccination drives, maternal and child health programs, and sanitation campaigns.
Monitor and report public health trends, including outbreaks, workplace injuries, or disease patterns.
Collaborate with estate management to improve safety and hygiene standards.
D. Administrative & Reporting Duties
Prepare monthly clinical reports, statistics, and health indicators for management.
Ensure compliance with national healthcare regulations and estate policies.
Manage clinic budgets, medical supplies, and procurement plans.
Participate in management meetings and provide professional advice on worker health and wellness.
E. Community & Stakeholder Engagement
Maintain relationships with local health authorities, referral hospitals, and community leaders.
Support CR and community outreach medical programs.
